#364 National Poetry Month – 30 Days 30 Poems

She ran like the wind when no one was chasin’
Not a care in the world when things were easy.
And she jokes with her friends at the end of the day,
They’re gone now—in her heart they stay.

She says when she grows up she’ll still laugh and smile
But she’s changed—she’s not the same.
And the friends in her life, they come and they go,
She can’t help herself, they need her, she knows.

At the end of her life she’ll sit down and say
It was fun, I was happy,
I did it my way.
