#300 Creatures of the Night

“I shouldn’t be here,” he squawked, panicked. He tried to spread his wings and hit the cage.

“Relax, would ya! Some of us are trying to sleep!” A pair of canaries roosting in the next cage spoke in unison.

“You don’t understand. Tonight’s a full moon. If I don’t get out of here we’re in trouble.” Panic in his voice.

In a larger cage a black raven woke up and everyone else woke up. “We’re already in trouble. Don’t you know where you are?”

Upstairs, Ned, the taxidermist, listened to the sounds of chirping birds till he fell  fast asleep.
