#360 National Poetry Month – 30 Days 30 Poems

Terrible and bitter sweet,
She checks on her garden and tends to her clothes—
Hanging on the line,
Blowing in the wind,
Drying under the hot Summer sun of the day.

She thinks no one’s watching
As she sways to the music carried on the wind,
A bird perches on the limb of a tree,
Watching her every move—waiting.

Another joins the bird…then another—
Then four more.
She keeps on dancing her tuneless score,
Smiling at a neighbor jogging by.

They look up at the birds
Run faster! Get away!
Soon there’ll be another feeding,
A bird buffet.
