#137 King of Light

The room was dark and dank. Not what I was expecting at all. The elevator operator cleared his throat, waiting for me to exit.

As I took my first step a light came on over a large desk in the middle of the room. Sitting behind the desk was a woman. Her hair in a bun, red lipstick, heavy makeup, and thick glasses.

She pointed a manicured finger at a chair I hadn’t noticed there before.

“Let’s see here,” she said as I sat down slowly. “It appears you’re past due on your payments. You owe us two dead bodies.”
