Are you up for the weekly challenge?
In 2024 let’s broaden our horizons with a weekly writing challenge that calls upon us all to write a story using the prompts below. Just a few guidelines otherwise it wouldn’t be a real challenge now would it:
More than 100 words but no more than 200 words.
Must use the WORD of the WEEK in your story.
Must use at least 2 of the 3 prompts provided (person / place / thing).
WORD OF THE WEEK
PERSON | PLACE | THING
Once you have a story, copy/paste it in the comments! I can’t wait to read what you come up with.
BONUS
If you want an added challenge, write a story using the WotW, all 3 prompts, PLUS is exactly 200 words in length.
“Listen, Donald old chap, it’s not really my decision. The board says you have to go. People have been talking.” The dean fiddled with the clutter of papers on the desk, noting the erratic marginalia and water rings. Well, probably not water, he thought to himself.
“I was the hero! I was the golden boy! And now you’re just throwing me out?” he hollered, chucking a chess piece at the dean’s head. It was a good thing that his aim was so bad; it took out a chunk of plaster on impact.
The dean shuddered to think that might have been him. “As soon as you sober yourself up, we’ll be happy to have you back. Until then, please turn in your credentials with HR.” He turned on his heel, closing the door behind him as quickly as he could. Another shower of chess pieces followed his flight. One nasty task off the list, he thought bemusedly, now onto the next.
